Perhaps what I need is a nice plain sock with a lovely yarn to entice me, but that doesn't sound interesting. How do you balance finding something just interesting enough but able to do while dead tired/asleep?

Pattern suggestions please. I need something that is practically stockinette and won't look bad if I mess it up. Is a sock in a nice yarn the answer? Or just piling some yarn on my bed while I sleep enough to comfort the Knitter in me for a while...

Baby knits, oh so cute!

Pattern: Elizabeth Zimmerman's February Baby Sweater from Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitter's Almanac
Yarn: Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Rich Red
Needle: #5 US 24" needle

Pattern: Saarjte's Booties [pdf]
Size: Large (but knit on 3mm needles to fit a newborn)

Yes, these photos were taken at a stoplight on the way to gift them. I just picked up the buttons the night before and finally found a tapestry needle that fit in the buttonholes. And yes, I only made two buttonholes. I forgot the others...

I found myself up at 1 am last night with extremely cold feet and in need of wool socks. I woke up this morning and wished for wool sweaters. I'm sure by the time I get home tonight, I'll go diving through my stash and organizing my closet to pool out my woolies and mend what needs to be repaired.

Yes, friends, though I've always considered myself a four season knitter, when the chilly weather hits (and by chilly, I mean in the 60's during the day), I go on a warm clothing rampage. The knitting bug kicks in and I'm staring at my sizable sock yarn collection, thinking that I really should have knit socks all summer like Wendy so I'd be semi-prepared for this "I need cold weather clothes, now!" bug. Just a few more months until everything in the LL Bean catalog looks wonderful, especially if it was made to withstand below freezing weather. That's what makes it almost suitable for a mild California winter for this California girl.

In the meantime, I've been knitting little baby sweaters and just have to finish them. Well, the babies will come sooner or later, so obviously they've got to be finished!

I saw the Mini Bento and while super cute, it is also super small with only one section for hot food (that was about the size of a cup or so?)

And some who read this blog also know that I enjoy my morning sleep, balancing the "lemme sleep some more" with "Uh oh. I gotta do this before I get to work" rationale in the morning. Those people are laughing their heads off right now.

But one can dream and admire those who would beat me up in a lunch packing contest (does takeout count? 'Cause Nijiya Supermarket in Mountain View makes great bento)

I would fail as a bento packer in terms of efficiency

If I were a mother in Japan, my child would envy this child's bento and feel inadequate

She doesn't like microwaves because she believes they will turn food into radioactive waste

She has filled the microwave with dried goods and uses it as a storage locker

She thinks standing near a working microwave often enough will give you cancer

She believes heated plastic is the next worst thing to Styrofoam

We both have a thing for containers, mostly made of plastic. Yeah. Go figure.
(Scientific or not, you don't want to mess with my mother)

It you actually came to the blog
a) via something other than RSS
b) looking for the knitting feed
c) once in a blue moon
you'll notice that it looks a bit different. That's because there's a spankin new install of MT4 under the hood. There new database, new templates (hence the new database), new layout which IMO, is cramped and nowhere near as cute as my last layout, but MT oh so kindly put together a new layout format that I'd like to be forward compatible with. The knitting only feed will be back soon.

Poke around and let me know if stuff is broken, please. Thanks!

I have lots of Stuff and know people with Stuff. eBay is a good place to attempt to rid myself of stuff. Company has a promotion to give recognition to recent college grad employees who lists/sells the most items and a few other creativity categories (quality and ingenuity counts, too). All this translate to some incentive to finally list my items and my stuff will become your stuff!

I'll be listing an assortment of items like Yarn, Knitting Books, Used Books, Longaberger baskets, and other little doo-hickeys that I have around the house. I have quite an awesome and eclectic selection of doo-hickeys, some of which are sheep things like sheep Pez or sheep paperclips. Oh, and a few SHEEP NOTEBOOKS! which make great knitting journals. How can you resist notebooks with Mouton written on them? Don't bother, you'll only hurt yourself in the mad rush for the sheep notebooks (my local supplier has been wiped out by the rabid knitters).

Thanks for taking a look and if you see something you know someone else would love, by all means, pass it on.

Contest Alert! If you refer someone else who does end up buying something, cc the referral email to moutonme AT freecia dooot com and I'll correlate their paypal email with the email you cc'd (so yes, the paypal email and the referral "To" email address should be the same).

Prizes: Two winners will be chosen:
- The person who refers the most completed winning auctions will get a free mouton mini notebook!
- A winner will also be drawn at random from the received emails. Prize is a mouton mini notebook!
(The things are too cute)

Yes, you can refer yourself ;)

Best of Luck to Dr. Kristi and husband Dr. Andy in Boulder, CO!

The BobaKnitters (and Honorary Bobaknitters) sent Kristi off in high style at Mary's. There were so many of us and I'd like to play the linky game but must find my bed soon, so please post in the comments or send a trackback link if you were here!

There was yarn themed food: alpaca shaped pretzels, sweater shaped pizzas, sheeply cake, and even a spindle made with a mushroom with corn silk roving. There were antics only the Bobaknitters would think of, like a sheep piñata:

Hannah bashed it in right after the kids had a go and made a small child cry at the decapitated sheep.

And a sheep stripper. Oh no, we weren't defleecing lifestock, we (aka Cookie) shoved Hannah into a sheep costume (sewn by Jill), put Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back on the speakers(brought by Cindy), and Hannah strutted her stuff, exploding little sheep all over the back lawn as she tore open the suit to reveal a "I <3 Kristizilla" shirt. Kristi's reaction? Priceless.

Update:: I found a little footage!!!

Hannah made another small child cry. Awesome.

I'll miss you Kristi! Come back soon and visit! And yes, you're not Cookie A
